Patrick Cockburn of the Independent will be presented with the James Cameron Memorial Award this evening at City University.
The £1,000 annual award, for "work as a journalist that combined moral vision and professional integrity", is given each year in memory of the foreign correspondent and author James Cameron.
On the same evening, Dan Chung of the Guardian will be awarded a special prize recogniseing the quality of his press photography over many years and Baroness Helena Kennedy QC will deliver the Cameron Memorial Lecture.
Baroness Kennedy’s lecture is entitled “Liberty — the First Casualty in the War on Terrorism”.
