Magazine publisher Highbury House has confirmed that an unidentified
publisher has made an approach that could lead to a bid.
Shares in the North London-based company rose 26 per cent on Wednesday
after the news broke. Highbury, which publishes Front and Fast Car, was
hit by a profits warning in September and last month warned that
disappointing trading and advertising results were to come. Industry
insiders have speculated that the bidder may be Bath-based magazine
publisher Future, which has made three acquisitions in the past two
months, but it has declined to comment.
