Stornoway Gazette Group Newspapers has appointed Melinda Gillen as editorin- chief of its family of titles.
Gillen,
currently editor of the group’s Hebridean weekly newspaper, will also
become editor of the Stornoway Gazette weekly following the resignation
of its current editor, Juliet Conway.
The Hebridean, launched a
year ago as opposition to the Gazette, was bought by the established
group after its backers ran out of cash.
Gillen said: “I am very
much looking forward to the challenge of taking on the Gazette and
building on its already well-established success to offer a
comprehensive coverage of the Western Isles and Skye.”
The group is owned by Score Press, a division of Scottish Radio Holdings.
