Trish Halpin is to edit IPC fashion and celebrity monthly In Style.
Halpin, currently editor of Red at Hachette Filipacchi, will take over the role in September.
A two-time winner of the British Society of Magazine Editors' Editor of the Year award, she has also been deputy editor of New Woman and More.
The appointment is IPC SouthBank managing director Jackie Newcombe's first big signing since taking up her role in January. She said: "The whole team here is thrilled that at a time when In Style is celebrating its fifth birthday, we can welcome someone of Trish's stature and reputation to take the magazine on to its next stage of development."
In Style, launched by Time Inc. in the US in 1994, has 10 editions around the world. It launched in the UK in 2001, and had a circulation of 196,857 in the latest ABCs.
The title celebrated its fifth birthday last Monday with an exhibition of redcarpet gowns at the V&A Museum.
