Hackney paper recognises NUJ

By Press Gazette

The NUJ has achieved official union recognition at the Hackney Gazette.

The
move comes after management at the Archant-owned weekly in London
agreed to a membership count which revealed just over half of the
paper’s 22 editorial staff were in the NUJ. After a dispute between the
management and the NUJ about numbers, official recognition has now been
imposed by the Conciliation and Arbitration Committee.

Recognition gives the NUJ the official right to negotiate on behalf of staff on pay and conditions.
