Award-winning
novelist Nick Hornby, who was once employed by Time Out as a music
journalist, has returned to guest edit the magazine.
Hornby was
given complete editorial control of the title for the 3 May issue, and
chose to interview a new British band, review singles and commission
articles on football, literature, music and cricket.
He also
contributed an essay in which he reveals which “landmark moments” in
his literary career took place in the Time Out offices.
Hornby
said: “I worked in the music department of Time Out during 1991 and
1992, but I was never given a proper job, merely invited in to cover
for people off sick or on holiday.
“I would love to be able to
abuse this latest position by sacking people who were horrible to me,
or who laughed at my literary ambitions.”
