Future deal to buy Highbury mags approved

By Press Gazette

Highbury shareholders have approved a £30 million deal to sell 38 magazines and related businesses to Future plc.
The deal includes Health and Fitness, Fast Car,
DJ, Pregnancy, DVD Review and Puzzle Monthly. Bath-based Future is also
buying Highbury’s five US titles, which include Women’s Health &
Fitness and Pregnancy.
Future chief executive Greg Ingham said: “This is
Future’s biggest ever deal and these titles will be fine additions to
our burgeoning portfolio. We celebrate our 20th anniversary this month
and are confident that our business is in good shape. These are
exciting times for Future.”
Future’s original agreement to buy all of
Highbury for £100m collapsed in April after the Office of Fair Trading
said the deal would give Future too big a share of the games market.
