Husband and wife Louise Oswald and Brian Roberts have been persuaded to return from the US to join the News of the World.
The
pair were part of the 20-strong British brain drain that crossed the
Atlantic in April and May to join former Sun executive Paul Field, who
now edits the New York-based supermarket tabloid The National Enquirer.
Oswald
is joining NoW as editor of Sunday magazine, filling the job left by
Judy McGuire, who heads up News International’s new magazines division.
Roberts
is a former photographer on the NoW and he rejoins as associate picture
editor, number two on the picture desk to Paul Bennett.
Oswald
said: “I have had a brilliant time in New York working with a talented
team of Brits on the very exciting and successful relaunch of The
National Enquirer and now I am delighted to be returning to News of the
World to edit Sunday magazine with Caroline Peal and the fantastic,
professional team. I’m also honoured to be following in thefootsteps of
Judy McGuire.”
Also returning from the US after joining Field’s
team is Louise Smith, for relationship reasons. She had been deputy
editor of the Enquirer and her exit follows the downsizing of the
tabloid from 72 to 60 pages.
