A planned Scottish pro-nationalist weekly tabloid is understood to have appointed an editor.
The Belfast-based Flagship Media Group, one of Ireland’s largest newspaper-to-internet publishers, has hired the former Scottish Sunday Mail executive Alex Macleod, according to the Sunday Herald.
Macleod worked for the Sunday Mail for 22 years including spells as a senior member of the news backbench and deputy sports editor.
He told the Sunday Herald that he was not in a position to confirm or deny reports of his appointment.
Flagship personnel manager Frank Creelman told Press Gazette he was not prepared to discuss any appointments until the full team was in place.
The Sunday Herald reported that the tabloid was expected to launch in the spring, go to press on Thursdays or Fridays and serve the weekend audience with a full range of news, sport and features
