Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Daily Record head of news moves into PR

By Press Gazette

Andy Lines, head of news at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, is leaving journalism to move into PR.

The former Mirror head of news is joining Media House to run its London operation.

Lines, who takes up his new post in two weeks, will renew his working partnership with Jack Irvine, Media House chairman, who gave him his first big job at The Sun in 1987 when they launched the Scottish edition.

He joined the Record in November 2007 following an 18-month career as a freelance after he left the Mirror. He has also worked at the Daily Express and as an assistant news editor at The Sun.

Lines was US editor of The Mirror from 1997-2002 where he was shortlisted as ‘Reporter of the Year’ for his work covering 9/11.

He has commuted weekly from London to Glasgow for the past three years to work at the Record.
