Independent News & Media editor-in-chief and Belfast Telegraph
editor Ed Curran picked up his OBE at Buckingham Palace for his
services to journalism.

Curran first joined the Telegraph in 1966 as a trainee journalist and was made deputy editor in 1974.

In
1988 he became launch editor of the Telegraph's sister title the Sunday
Life and was later seconded to Cardiff as editor of Wales on Sunday
where he was named Editor of the Year.

Curran took on the

of Independent News & Media in 2005.

From 2000 to 2001
Curran was president of the Society of Editors and from 2002 to 2006 he
was a member of the Press Complaints Commission.
