Cumbrian titles come out on top

Edit Here!Two Cumbrian titles shone at the North West Newspaper
Awards with the News and Star, Carlisle, winning daily newspaper of the
year and the Cumberland News taking the weekly award.

The event
was also a double celebration for the Lancashire Evening Post with Nick
Owens being named news reporter of the year and Ian Robinson winning
photographer of the year.

Young journalist of the year was awarded to David Higgerson of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

Chris
Bascombe, from the Liverpool Echo was named sports reporter of the year
for the third year running, while his colleague Paddy Shennan was named
feature writer of the year.
