Cowley appointed editor of Observer Sport Monthly

Jason Cowley, literary editor of the New Statesman and former feature writer for The Times, is to be the new editor of the award-winning The Observer Sport Monthly magazine.

Cowley has worked at the New Statesman for five years and, during this time, he was also contributing editor of Prospect magazine and was European sports correspondent for Scanorama. He is also a former news editor of The Bookseller. His feature writing and literary criticism has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly, The Daily Telegraph Magazine and Granta.

Cowley said: “I intend to publish the best writing about sport, indeed some of the best writing in British journalism. I want OSM to look good and be fun to read.”

OSM was launched in May 2000.
