Bauer Media’s women’s weekly, More, has recruited comedian Alan Carr as chief celebrity reporter as part of a “sophisticated” redesign.
Still sticking firm to its target audience of women aged 18-24, the magazine has been redesigned into a ‘more sophisticated offering’and new features include a 30-page high street fashion section and more advice.
The title, which swapped from fortnightly to weekly under former owner Emap in July last year, has increased pagination by 25 per cent to an average 116 to 124 and has increased page size slightly to match stablemates Heat and Closer.
Friday Night Project presenter Carr will interview a different celebrity every week and warned fellow celebrities to watch out as he takes on his first job as a journalist. He said: ‘Being an A-lister myself I feel I will be able to connect with them unlike any other reporter, befriend them and once I’ve lured them into a false sense of security – get all the juicy goss out of them.”
More’s average year-on-year circulation figure fell 38 per cent to 162,544 for the first half of 2008 following the change in frequency. As a fortnightly title under Emap More recorded a circulation of 260,331 for the first half of 2007.
The relaunch issue is out 23 September and will be supported by a multimedia advertising campaign.
