The publisher of a new children’s monthly magazine is marketing the
title by sending sales representatives into schools nationwide.
CY
magazine, set to launch this July, with a core concept of learning
through entertainment is the project of ex-children’s book publisher
and junior schoolteacher, Kate Scarborough, who said that direct
marketing to families via schools is an effective approach to take.
The
36-page magazine aimed at 7-12 year olds will give children problem
solving tasks in each issue and will be accompanied by an interactive
website, cyclub.com.
Scarborough said she was cautiously very
optimistic despite the tough competition on the market. She said: “It
is going to be a real bonus to the magazine because parents have
problems finding something that is for a slightly older child. CY does
not having anything that is contentious. That is filling a gap.”
CY
contributors include children’s author Richard Platt and illustrator
John Kelly while Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet and PGL Holidays
have sponsored competitions.
