Columnist Julie Burchill has left The Guardian after five years to join The Times. She is the second columnist at the newspaper to be poached recently by The Times – Rod Liddle defected in August.
Burchill’s outspoken views in the Saturday Weekend supplement have attracted controversy and complaints, notably from the Irish community.
She made her name on the NME before becoming a Fleet Street columnist with The Mail on Sunday.
