BBC's Matt Frei 'still ignored by President Bush'

The Independent profiles Matt Frei, the BBC’s Washington correspondent and anchor of BBC World News America.

The broadcaster is looking to take on the big US news networks with what it describes as a less inward-looking news agenda, aimed at the 25 per cent of the American population that holds a passport – the sort of people who read the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Despite attending White House press conferences for six years, Frei complains that he is still ignored by President Bush. “They know it’s going to be a rude question,” he says.
