The BBC’s rolling TV news coverage is to be scrutinised by the BBC Trust this year, in a wide-ranging review that will assess its value for money and ask for public opinions on the service.
The BBC’s governing body has announced that it will launch a service review of the BBC News channel as part of its 2011/12 workplan.
The review will look at the channel’s distinctiveness and financial control and will include a public consultation.
Other areas of the BBC’s output that will be subject to a review in the coming year include BBC Parliament, Radio FiveLive and the BBC’s local radio offering in England.
