BBC defends Afghan report

The BBC has defended its news coverage in Afghanistan after criticism from the Afgahn’s Ministry of Defence.

The ministry had claimed that reports of civilian casualties and looting during the assault on Musa Qala in Helmand province were untrue. The BBC said it spoke to local people who said they had seen civilian casualties but these were impossible to verify. It did not allege any looting had taken place, the corporation said.
