Travel title signs deal

Wanderlust, the bimonthly travel magazine, has gone into partnership with two of the UK’s leading publishers.

John Brown, chairman of John Brown Citrus Publishing, and Mark Ellingham, founder of the Rough Guides, have made undisclosed personal investments in the publication.

Founded in 1993, Wanderlust is aimed at affluent travellers seeking holidays away from the mainstream. The magazine, which was originally published from a spare bedroom, has grown into a £1m turnover operation. It creators, Lyn Hughes and Paul Morrison, retain a 50 per cent shareholding.

Ellingham said: “Once or twice a year people approach me with an idea for a ‘Rough Guide Travel Magazine’. My response is always the same: it exists already and it’s called Wanderlust. So to buy into the real thing, so to speak, along with John Brown, is a privilege.”
