The Grimsby Telegraph ran no news story on its front page after
readers donated thousands of pounds to the paper’s tsunami appeal.
Below the headline, “Thank You…”, the entire cover was filled with
the names of Telegraph readers who had donated money to the victims
through the paper’s tsunami appeal, which has now raised over £20,000.
Telegraph Editor Michelle Lalor said: “I wasn’t expecting such a huge
response since there was such a big national campaign happening. I was
staggered.
I think people trust local newspapers and find it easier to send in money.”
