A part-time student has landed a top broadcasting job before her course has finished.
Five months into London’s noSWeat journalism training course, Natasha Roberts, right, has joined Sky Digital for the launch of its interactive channel, Friendly TV. Roberts, 22, was selected to take up a presenting role on the channel, due to launch on Monday.
It has been a rapid rise for Roberts who will go on air before finishing her NCTJ exams.
She said: “It’s hard to believe it is all happening so quickly. This really is like a dream come true but I don’t want to stop here. I have worked really hard at college and, obviously, it has paid off because now I’m about to do exactly what I’ve always wanted.”
The course director at noSWeat, Stephen Ward, said: “We encourage our students to aim high and that is exactly what Natasha has done.”
Roberts will help host a range of interactive programmes which use SMS texting, IVR premium telephone lines and an ongoing chat facility. The channel will broadcast live, seven days a week from 11am to 10pm.
