Paul Ridley, sports editor of The Mail on Sunday for just three months, left the paper last week.
Inside sources say the clash of cultures between The Sun, where Ridley was a long-term and valued sports executive, and the MoS became apparent early on. The parting was amicable.
"It’s better to acknowledge in a gentlemanly way at an early stage that for one reason or other it is not working," said one senior Associated journalist.
