NME launches first international edition

By Press Gazette

IPC has launched NME Ireland, its first international edition of the magazine.

The new Irish edition of the weekly music magazine coincides with the launch of Club NME Dublin, which hopes to be a regular showcase for new Irish music.

The move is the latest in the globalization of the NME brand. Last month the title opened Club NME Los Angeles and plans to do the same in New York. It has recruited news writers to report on the music scenes from the East and West coasts of the U.S.A for both NME.com, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year, and the print title. A digital edition of the magazine will also launch, to reach international readers quicker.

NME Ireland promises to contain dedicated pages focused on the Irish live music scene, with the latest news, features profiles and live reviews from the breaking acts in the country. The magazine will also include the usual UK and international music scene coverage.

Content for the Irish edition will be provided by new NME Ireland correspondent, Steve Cummins, a regular contributor to the magazine, as well as The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, The Irish Daily Star and The Irish Sun.

NME Ireland will be on sale from October 18, the day before Club NME Dublin launches at Voodoo Lounge, Dublin. The club will take up residency at The Hub, Eustace Street from every first and third Thursday of the month.
