Associated Newspaper has created a one-off ‘green’ edition of Metro for students in collaboration with London mayor Ken Livingstone and the Greater London Authority.
Nearly 40,000 copies of the special edition of the free morning paper are being sent this month to all new students who are attending university in London for the first time.
The ‘green’ Metro will be a stapled, 16-page edition, printed on 100% recycled paper. It will offer students information on things to do in the capital, as well as advice for a greener, more sustainable life.
The newspaper includes a green version of the “Metro Digest” section and features stories on ethical fashion, recycling and details of London’s best second-hand stores.
Metro marketing director Karen Wall said: “Metro is the most widely read newspaper amongst students in London so creating a special green edition is an innovative way to talk to them. Green Metro is designed and written to reflect Metro’s punchy news style. The stories provide useful advice and tips to help students stay green while at University.”
