Hereford editor to add regional focus

By Press Gazette

BBC Hereford and Worcester has appointed a new editor responsible for expanding coverage in the Herefordshire area and fostering closer community links.

Joe Baldwin, a news producer on West Midlands radio station BBC WM, took up the post of Herefordshire editor this week, leading a team of journalists charged with finding stories within the region that will be used for news broadcasts and as ideas for programmes.

He will also be the main point of contact for the community and the involvement of the station with listeners, as part of its “open door policy”.

Baldwin previously worked as a reporter and freelance producer for BBC Radio Shropshire and BBC Midlands Today. He said: “It’s great to feel part of a community and I’m looking forward to getting even more news, views and issues affecting the people of Herefordshire on air.”

BBC Hereford and Worcester has also split its breakfast programme and is to add another presenter to “double head” the show and provide dedicated coverage for both counties.
