Ferrari Press Agency is marking its 60th anniversary with a party in Fleet Street open to all former staff.
Anyone
who has come into contact with the agency, in any capacity, is also
welcome to attend the event, due to be held on 30 September from 7pm.
Former
staff include Kelvin MacKenzie and Richard Stott, ex-editors of The Sun
and the Mirror respectively, Sky crime correspondent Martin Brunt,
royal writer Phil Dampier, author Howard Sounes and The Sun’s new royal
reporter, Duncan Larcombe.
The agency was set up in 1945 by Lino
“Dan” Ferrari. In 1969 ownership was transferred to Geoff Garvey, who
went on to be the crime correspondent of the Evening Standard.
Then
in 1999 Matthew Bell, who was news editor of the Sunday Mirror, and
Adam Gillham, a former reporter for The Sun, took over. As both had
worked for the Kentish Times, picking up the reins in an area they had
covered as junior reporters seemed like a natural move.
Now the agency, in Dartford, Kent, has expanded to incorporate a features department and a photographic side.
