Flashman: joins Channel 4 in July
ITN has found a replacement for outgoing Channel 4 News managing editor Guy Ker, who is leaving to join ITV News as its first chief operating officer.
Gay Flashman, managing editor of Five News, steps into Ker’s role in July.
Flashman, a former programme editor of the defunct Channel 4 breakfast programme Ri:se, worked as a senior producer on Five News’s launch in 1997 before going on to be programme editor of The Edit, Five’s Saturday current affairs programme aimed at younger viewers.
Flashman returned to Five News as managing editor and executive producer on The Edit in August 2002 after a stint at BBC Knowledge (now BBC Four) as a programming executive between 1999 and 2001 and moving on to Ri:se in May 2002.
Fiona Campbell, a series producer for BBC current affairs and editor network development, has also joined Channel 4 News as commissioning editor, independent productions. She replaces Deborah Rayner, who became senior foreign editor in March after the departure of Andrew Macdonald.
A former senior producer on Panorama, Campbell currently commissions the independent sector in Northern Ireland. She joins Channel 4 News in July.
