Credit where credit is due

By Press Gazette

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that I didn’t
actually win the Scoop of the Year at the Midland Media Awards (Press
Gazette, 29 April).

The accolade, which was in recognition of the
Gloucestershire Echo’s coverage of the Tim Robinson fraud trial and
subsequent trials, was a reward for the efforts of the editor Anita
Syvret and her staff who worked on the story for over four years.

I think the confusion has arisen because I submitted the entry on behalf of the paper.

I
would very much like to set the record straight before my former
colleagues at the Bristol Evening Post, especially Mike Lowe, Stan
Szecowka and Kevan Blackadder, start to believe I’ll resort to any
measures to win an award!

Chris Maguire, assistant editor, Gloucestershire Echo
