Journalist Will Gray, of the Hitchin-based sports news agency Collings Sport, has been voted the Young Motorsport Writer of the Year by British motor racing’s governing body, the Motor Sports Association.
He received his accolade at a prize-giving ceremony in London last Friday. Gray covered the FIA Formula One World Championship and other major motorsport events for The Daily Telegraph newspaper, Reuters news agency and the Atlas F1 website in 2002.
Collings’ managing partner, Tim Collings, has been a Formula One journalist and author for 15 years.
Gray, 25, said: “Tim has given me a great opportunity to live my dream, of covering F1, and I like to think some of his many years of experience in Grand Prix racing have rubbed off on me.
Collings said: “Will richly deserves this award – Formula One is a very competitive environment to work in, but he has clearly demonstrated that he is made of the right stuff.”
