Actress and model Caprice has accepted a public apology and “substantial” but undisclosed libel damages at London’s High Court over an article in The Mail on Sunday which accused her of being a “gold digger”.
The article, which followed her engagement to Alex Davis, the grandson of an oil billionaire, was published by the paper on 31 August under the heading “Caprice a gold digger says family of fiancé.” It quoted an unnamed ex-boyfriend who had allegedly said that Caprice was “desperate to land a rich bloke”.
Counsel for the MoS said the paper apologised for the distress and embarrassment the article had caused. Caprice said she would give her damages to five charities.
