Banker quits after adult web site story

By Press Gazette

An exclusive by the Sunday Business Post in Ireland has led to the shock resignation of a top Dublin banker over using an adult internet site.

Michael Soden, chief executive of the Bank of Ireland, quit his post after the newspaper sought his response to its queries about an escort website he had accessed, contrary to bank policy, from his office. It is believed the story was leaked to the Sunday Business Post by a disgruntled former member of bank staff angry that Soden was responsible for outsourcing the bank’s IT function.

Soden had been on record as saying that he had found pressure from the media one of the most unattractive features of his job.
