Backhouse: Taking control at H&E
Health & Efficiency Naturist, the world’s only commercial monthly magazine that is devoted to naturism, has appointed Sara Backhouse as its new editor.
Backhouse, 34, will replace Mark Nisbet, the editor for the past five years. However, Nisbet will continue to write and photograph for the magazine as an independent journalist.
Although a relative newcomer to naturism, Backhouse insists that she is genuinely interested in furthering the naturist cause, and looks forward to working with new and existing contributors at the magazine’s East Yorkshire base.
“I have never seen H&E Naturist as setting out to offer a prescriptive ‘guide’ to naturism,” she said.
“Rather, its editors have always reflected and commented on the wide-ranging views and opinions held by the magazine’s many readers. I certainly intend to follow suit.”
Backhouse’s appointment is an internal promotion following six years of involvement with H&E, H&E Lifestyle and H&E Naturist. She has formerly worked on both regional and national titles, including Teletext and at the Press Association.
