Mandy Appleyard has been appointed to the new role of head of features at the Press Association.
Appleyard, who joins the national news agency on 20 October, will be based at PA’s office in Howden, Yorkshire. She will be responsible for developing feature content across all the editorial markets served by PA, including national and regional newspapers, magazines, contract publishing, television and the internet.
Appleyard will be working closely with Jackie Brown, who has taken up the newly created role of celebrity editor, and Eric Rayner, who heads the commercial development of PA’s feature syndication business.
Appleyard is a former features editor of the Daily Record and has held a variety of senior positions on several national magazines including Woman, Company and Closer. She has also worked as a freelance, contributing features to the Daily Mirror, the Sunday Mirror, The Independent on Sunday, The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine, Elle, Eve, Marie Claire and Bella.
She said: “The Press Association has great ambitions for developing its features business and I am pleased to be joining at this exciting time.”
