Archant rebrands its Leaders

By Press Gazette

Archant Central Scotland’s Extra series of weekly newspapers has been extended to reach more than 250,000 homes with the rebranding of the company’s Ayrshire Leader series as The Extra.

The Ayrshire Extra joins the existing Extra-branded free weekly titles in Glasgow and Lanarkshire and will take on their fonts and style, but remains an individual paper with its own content.

Ayrshire Extra editor Scott Barr said the rebranding was an opportunity to modernise the newspaper, strengthen its identity and create a series of newspapers in the West of Scotland that reaches more than 250,000 homes.

“It is an exciting challenge for myself and my team and one which I’m sure will have a welcoming response from our readers – old and new.” Archant Central Scotland’s regional director, Neville Keithley, said: “Changing The Leader name to The Extra was the next logical step in establishing The Extra brand, which has already been so well received by readers and advertisers in our other publishing areas that were changed to The Extra in January.”
