An Al Jazeera journalist covering an attack on Nablus in the West Bank has been shot and rushed to hospitalafter an altercation with Israeli soldiers, the Doha-based news channel has reported.
Wael Tantous, an Al Jazeera technician, was allegedly shot with a rubber bullet after an Israeli military vehicle sped towards reporter Jivara Al Budeiri and her crew during a live report on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Al Jazeera has condemned the shooting, which it claims is part of an emerging trend by the Israeli authorities since the start of the attacks on Lebanon, to obstruct their crews from reporting in the region.
Shortly after the first Hezbollah missiles hit Haifa, Israeli authorities detained Al Jazeera’s correspondent in the region, Ilyas Karram. She was later released, as was Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Jerusalem, Walid Al Omary.
