ABCs: Every national Sunday down in December

Every national Sunday title saw a month-on-month circulation drop in December, according to the latest figures from ABC.

Scotland on Sunday had the biggest fall, dipping 7.1 per cent to 45,652, while the best-performing Sunday title was The Observer, down just 0.03 per cent.

Sister title The Guardian was also one of only two dailies that improved circulation month on month in December, up 1.61 per cent to 230,108. The Herald was up 0.24 per cent to 46,369.

The Racing Post was the only daily that saw its circulation up year on year, rising 1.6 per cent to 50,044.

The Independent suffered the biggest drop, falling 31.7 per cent to 119,551, though the paper transferred a significant number of bulk sales to its sister title i last year.

 

The Daily Star Sunday continues to benefit from the closure of the News of the World in July 2011 and was up 90.1 per cent year on year in December to 640,406, although its sister title was down 13.6 per cent to 616,498.
