Journalists at Express Newspapers have voted in favour of strike action after management refused to increase their pay by more than 3 per cent.
The company, which publishes the Daily Express, the Sunday Express, the Daily Star and the Daily Star Sunday, would not move from its original offer of 3 per cent despite talks between the union and ACAS to raise the figure to 4.3 per cent.
The group will hold three 24-hour stoppages from next Friday and the following two Fridays.
According to the union around 61 per cent of journalists voted in the ballot. Of them 60.5 per cent of them voted in favour of industrial action including a strike while 83.4 per cent voted in favour of action short of a strike.
