Trinity Mirror South shuffles editorial staff

By Press Gazette

The
deputy editor at the Croydon Advertiser, Mike Hawkins, has become
editor for six months at North Surrey & London Newspapers (NSL).

The
secondment follows the resignation of Kim Chapman, who joined on a
consultancy basis as editor-in-chief (Press Gazette, 4 February).

During
Hawkins’ absence from the Croydon Advertiser, a management post is
being created with responsibility for development at the Surrey Mirror
and sister titles such as the Crawley News, East Grinstead Observer and
the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser series.

The current editor
of the Folkestone and Dover Herald Express series, Simon Finlay, will
fill this role after the general election. During his secondment, Kent
Regional Newspapers’ senior editor- in-chief, Lesley Finlay, will take
over in Folkestone.

The editorial director for Trinity Mirror
Southern, Marc Reeves, said: “These senior editorial management
appointments, made on a temporary secondment basis, are part of our
efforts to develop the careers of key people by encouraging them to
take up challenges in different locations of the business.”
