Echo’s disability magazine axed

By Press Gazette

I Can Do That!: from mag to column

The Liverpool Echo’s award-winning magazine for the disabled, I Can Do That!, is being closed because it is not making enough money.

However, the Echo is keeping its regular I Can Do That! column.

Originally launched as a newspaper in 1997, it later became a standalone magazine. Last year I Can Do That! was named supplement of the year in the Press Gazette Regional Press Awards.

According to Trinity Mirror, it has been making a loss for some time.

A spokesman said: “The editorial quality of I Can Do That! is without question, thanks to the dedication of editor Tom Dowling.

“Tom has accepted the position of designer/sub-editor in the editorial production department, and retains responsibility for the column.”
