Sky News has launched a twice-weekly, hour-long discussion show featuring an all-women cast of journalists, in a bid to boost the news channel’s evening programming, writes Wale Azeez.
The programme, 3D, will be fronted by former Wright Stuff co-presenter Kate Silverton, BBC1 Inside Out host Tessa Dunlop and former CBBC presenter Ana Boulter.
The show is the second new discussion programme on Sky News’s evening schedule this year, following the launch of Richard Littlejohn’s show last month.
It will be aired on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8pm from 3 March. Each presenter will field a 15-minute segment, offering debate and giving their slant on the issues of the day, before joining together to present the final quarter of an hour.
The programme’s executive producer, Steve Clark, said all three presenters were capable of “drilling down to the hard facts and debating what really matters to the man – or woman – on the street”.
A third evening news and current affairs programme will begin in April, to be fronted by the channel’s political editor, Adam Boulton.
