13 years on ITV launches successor to World in Action

Some 13 years after the end of World in Action ITV is a launching a new investigative journalism series.

The new series, Exposure, will ‘explore a range of powerful subjects over hour-long single films”, a spokesman for ITV said.

The first episode will be aired in autumn 2011 and will bring together films made by several directors covering foreign and domestic topics, human interest and exclusive investigations.

Production is already underway and further details will be released later this year. Exposure will run alongside ITV1’s year-round current affairs programme Tonight.

ITV’s controller of current affairs and news operations Ian Squires said: ‘Exposure aims to shed light on a number of powerful and important subjects, from the world stage to very human and emotional stories, within individual and narrative-led hour-long films. I’m delighted that with this new strand, alongside the continued terrific output from Tonight, ITV1 continues to be a platform for a broad range of journalistic voices.”

Exposure was commissioned for ITV1 by ITV Director of Television Peter Fincham.
