Zoo website launch

By Press Gazette

Emap’s £8m men’s title Zoo Weekly has launched its official website, writes Ruth Addicott.

The site, zooweekly.co.uk, will serve as an extension to the magazine, featuring women, sport and jokes as well as stories considered too outrageous for the printed version.

Men will be encouraged to get involved by nominating their goal of the season, contributing jokes and responding to issues such as the question of whether cannabis should be re-classified.

Website editor Ben Wilson said: “The combination of sex, sport and stupidity can’t fail to entertain.”

Wilson, who writes a column for The Observer, was previously web editor on Emap’s teen and women’s titles Bliss and More! Prior to that he was a sports writer on the official website for digital television channel Nickelodeon.

An e-mail publicising the launch of the Zoo Weekly site was sent to 400,000 men aged 16 to 30 and further promotions are planned for sister sites such as FHM.com, maxpower.co.uk and empireonline.co.uk.
