World Radio Network plans podcasting week

By Press Gazette

A week of special programming focusing on podcasting will appear on World Radio Network’s English language international news and current affairs satellite radio networks.

The series of programmes broadcast by international transmission company WRN runs until Sunday 10 December.

It will profile the rise of podcasting as an increasingly significant method of content distribution.

The specially produced shows feature interviews with podcasting experts and pioneers from Virgin Radio, Radio Sweden, production company Somethin’ Else and Hive Networks, as well as WRN.

The interviews examine all aspects of podcasts from the medium’s origins to its future, and will be available at wrn.org/podcasting.

WRN’s Harry Holgate said: “With podcasting week, we want to bring the concept of podcasting to all our listeners around the world so they can understand what it is and how they can begin using the WRN podcasting service to download and listen again to their favourite shows at times that suit them.”
