CNN chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour has won the World Media Award at the Women’s World Awards for her coverage of hostile areas around the world.
Her 20-year career with CNN has taken her on numerous assignments around the world, including Rwanda, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Israel, Iraq, Iran and the Balkans.
Amanpour said: “I am grateful and privileged to receive the World Media Award and I pay tribute to all the wonderful women who are contributing themselves to make the world a better and more peaceful place.”
The Media Award is given to media personalities whose unwavering commitment to their profession has contributed to the diversity in the media landscape.
