Wave 105 has promoted journalist Jason Beck to the newly created role of news editor.
The position has been established to boost regional coverage and also to reward Beck for his service to the station since its launch in 1998.
Beck will head the news team based in Hampshire. The team is expanding further with the creation of a graduate trainee position in August. Beck said that recruiting another journalist would enable the team to have a higher profile at events.
He added: “The idea is to introduce more local stories and get my team out and about meeting the locals.”
Martin Ball, managing director of Wave 105, said: “We are delighted to appoint Jason as news editor – it’s a promotion that is thoroughly deserved after years of excellent service.”
