Trinity Mirror is to relaunch its weekly free Trafford Metro title as two new papers serving parts of south Manchester and Cheshire.
The revamp will see the title published by Trinity Mirror’s MEN Media subsidiary become The Sale & Altrincham Advertiser and The Stretford & Urmston Advertiser. Both titles will be free and delivered door to door.
Trinity Mirror said the combined distribution of the new titles is expected to be around 78,000 copies each week – more than 10,000 copies higher than Trafford Metro’s current level of distribution.
The new titles will go head-to-head with two of Newsquest‘s Messenger series titles which also serve Sale, Altrincham, Stretford and Urmston.
Trinity Mirror said today the revamp of the Metro would allow it to provide more local content with each paper when they are launched on 21 October.
Other changes will see publication day move from Friday to Thursday and each of the new titles will also include a new ‘Homesmine’property section with ads specific to each paper’s area.
