Trinity Mirror group executive editor Michael Greenwood to lead national/regional content sharing

By Press Gazette

Daily Mirror journalist Michael Greenwood has been promoted to the new job of group executive editor promoting content sharing between the national and regional titles.

The former investigative journalist for the Mirror (pic above from his Twitter profile – credit: Victoria Kennedy), who has also worked on the newsdesk, will also oversee law training across the group. Here is the press statement from Trinity Mirror:

Trinity Mirror has announced that Michael Greenwood has been promoted to the new role of Executive Editor (Group).

In his new position, Michael will be responsible across the national and regional brands for championing the development of content sharing via Trinity Mirror Wire.

He will also oversee the provision of law training for editorial staff across the group and the delivery of masterclass reporter training to our regional teams.

Michael joined the Mirror Group 17 years ago as a trainee journalist, completing the Newcastle foundation course before joining The Daily Mirror’s investigations team.

He covered consumer and business for the Mirror, later joining the newsdesk as assistant news editor and then deputy news editor.

Michael will also be a member of a newly-formed managing editor team for regionals. Chris Walker, managing editor for our North West region, becomes senior managing editor for regionals. Eamonn O’Neal, managing editor at MEN Media, adds the North East region to his existing responsibilities and becomes deputy managing editor for regionals. Michael will support the Midlands, Media Wales and Trinity Mirror Southern.

The new team will  ensure legal compliance and content provenance are maintained to the necessary standards.
