Tributes have been paid to Tanya Eyre, the News of the World‘s assistant picture editor, who died suddenly of unexplained causes last month.
Tanya, who was 34, joined the newspaper in 1997 as secretary on the sports desk.
She later joined the picture desk as a researcher and earlier this year moved to Fabulous magazine for its launch.
News of the World editor Colin Myler said: ‘Tanya was a much-loved colleague and wonderful executive. We are all devastated.”
Jane Johnsn, the editorial director of NoW magazine Fabulous added: ‘Tanya was an extremely gifted and popular member of the Fabulous team.
‘She worked on the magazine’s launch and was key to its visual style. The team miss her a great deal.”
Tanya also served for three years as a News of the World representative on the News International Staff Association where she played a significant role.
Her News of the World NISA colleague Nick Jones said: “Tanya took her job on the staff association very seriously. Her special gift was her ability to lend a sympathetic ear to those who turned to her for help.
‘She was a wonderful friend to so many of us. A bright light has gone out in Wapping.”
Her father, former News International executive Tony Marjeram, said: ‘I spent 31 years working for the same company and never achieved what Tanya did in the short time she was there. I am so proud of her.’
Colleagues said Tanya had an overwhelming zest for life and that she was a great contributor to the social scene amongst her work colleagues and in her hometown of Bearsted, Kent.
Her funeral held there last month was attended by over 250 friends and family.
