Trade weekly Broadcast shrinks to A4 in latest redesign

By Rachael Gallagher

Television trade magazine Broadcast has shrunk to American A4 format, introduced a new masthead and upped its cover price by seven per cent.

The Emap title unveiled its redesign this morning – its second in as many years.

The weekly magazine now offers more analysis and commentary, which acting editor Emily Booth said was designed to keep up with the ‘fast-paced sector’the magazine represents.

In an email offering a free trial to new readers, the redesigned magazine is described as ‘more practical, stimulating, informative and useful”.

The cover price has risen from £4.25 and £4.55.

Explaining the changes in a leader column in this week’s magazine, Emily Booth said: “As the industry changes, we’re always seeking to provide you with practical information to help you in your business.

“So our punchy design will offer you more analysis, commentary – and news you can use.

“We’ve had great fun putting our new magazine together, and we hope you enjoy reading it.”

Broadcast unveiled its last redesign in May 2007 – shrinking from tabloid size to a format halfway between A4 and A3.

The pagination of last week’s issue was 32. The new A4 pagination this week is 40.

Broadcast has a current ABC circulation figure of 9,702 – of which 2,465 were newsstand sales.
